Work Experience
Iron Works
Throughout the first term I worked with my Mother in her gym. I was working at reception mainly working on schedules and filing. I would also do other small things like clean up loose equipment that can cause a hazard to clients. I am not qualified to train clients as of yet however I am going to a course on weekends in DCU to change this. I look forward to training people and it will give me good experience in working in the fitness industry which is a career direction I might take.
Criminal Courts
I did some work experience with a criminal defence barrister in the Criminal courts of justice. Here I learnt a lot about law and the legal system. I found the whole ordinal to be incredibly exciting and interesting. I didn't actually do much as I lacked the knowledge to really help with anything impactful. Instead I asked questions and observed everything that was going on. I would consider pursuing in this field as I took a genuine interest in all aspects involved. I liked the way in which the barristers would work on something entirely new every month or so. I think the verity would prevent it the job from becoming stale and repetitive.
Leinster Rugby
For one block of work experience I did was with Leinster Rugby. I worked with a man who goes to schools organising training for tag rugby. He would teach the kids of 12 schools at time and then when they all had learnt the basics a blitz between the schools would take place. I helped organise some of the training sessions by setting up the equipment and answering any questions the kids had. On the day of the blitz I helped coach some of the teams as well as doing some set up and refereeing. It was really and I enjoyed seeing how happy everyone was and knowing that I contributed to that.
