Camping trip at Lough Dan
On Wednesday 13 th September this year, my year and I received our junior cert results. All of us were content with our results. However, I believe many of us could have worked harder in the lead up to the exams, myself included. After we had seen our results, we got on the school coach and headed to Loch Dan. The night before I organized the required gear, I packed clothes for the three days I would be away for as well as extras in case I got wet or muddy and needed to change. I brought pasta and oats to eat on the trip for convenience. I brought a pair of boots so I could easily walk in rough terrain. When I arrived at Loch Dan I began setting up my tent with my camping partners. After some time struggling, we managed to get the tent set up. We all unpacked our bags and began cooking our dinner. After sharing meals and spending a night with my peers, I got to know many of them a lot more especially with those I sharing the tent with. On the second day we went on a 22km hike. This took up a large portion of the day. Roughly 5 hours. It was a tough experience but included some beautiful sights and interesting conversations with people I would not have expected. The third and final day was dominated by packing bags and cleaning up. Once the tents had been put away we worked as a team to sweep the area for any left over plastics and other rubbish. After this we got on the bus and returned home. |
