Careers
I found the careers module to be a waste of time for me personally as I already knew where my interests were. I could understand how this module could be useful for those who are yet to decide on potential career paths.
Art Appreciation
I enjoyed art appreciation as it was interesting to learn about different styles of art and architecture. I can tell the difference between the different types of Ancient Greek columns. The ionic, Corinthian and Doric styles of architecture come from different cities, cultures and time periods. Each fashion becoming more decadent and ornate then the last. It was also fun to research and learn about our selected artist for the project. I did Rembrandt where I learned about his lucky rise to noteriaty and prestige. In conclusion I feel as if I have a better understanding on how to critique art in all of its forms.
Pottery
Before the pottery module I was oblivious to everything in that nature. Over the 8 weeks I leant how to proficiently sculpt basic objects and animals. It was a fun modal that was a nice break from the other academic classes.
pol soc
in Pol Soc we learnt about politics and society. We learnt about slavery and the oppression of African Americans. We focuses on the Jim Crow laws and racism in post slavery USA. I enjoyed a lot and I feel like I am better educated on the matter.
nutrition
The nutrition module focus on all the dietary requirements of person. This included the correct proportions and quality of foods nessicary to remain healthy and increase the odds of you living a long life. We also learnt about performance enhancing drugs. I did my project at the end of the term on Clenburonol. This is a fat burning drug that is illegal but still used by many athletes to help make a weight class
Mindfulness
I did a mindfulness module with ms.Buckley, here we learnt about meditation and its history. I learnt that meditation has its history rooted in Buddhism. This was then made popular is the west in recent years by. It was nice to be able to relax and calm down in an new effective manner.
RSE
In RSE we learnt about pregnancy, the different STDs and how to protect yourself from them. We were assigned work sheets during the module which would contribute to 20% of our total grade. We then did a project on topic we had covered.
leadership
In leadership we learnt about components of what makes a leader. This was then followed but by researching and analysing different leaders in all lines of life. This included Nelson Mandela(Former revolutionary and President of South Africa) and Billy Beane(The head coach of the 2002 Oakland baseball team) , the two of these leaders used similar methods to achieve their goals despite how drastically different they are. We then had to use our new knowledge and understanding to complete a project comparing two leaders.
